The last time I went to a corporate meeting, I had to drink a can of Redbull at every break just to keep myself from dozing off!
So why are corporate events so tiresome? Maybe it’s the boring PPTs or extensive excel sheets, or maybe it’s just the setting!
But unlike the corporate events that I had attended so far in my brief career span, this particular annual meet of my company in January 2015 left me in disbelief. It had more to offer than just the Excel sheets, PPTs and table etiquette-dominated lunch get-togethers.
The reasons were more than one:
1. No formalities please
My boss is a potbellied 46-year-old no-nonsense person who wears a smug on his face apart from his boring suits to office. Thanks to the cowboy theme, we found Mr.Smug-face in a hunter hat, pointed shoes and leather pants. Never found him giggling like that ever. Theme-based corporate events are an out-of-the-box thing at Ramoji Film City.
2. Annual meets became Bollywood Bash
From whiteboards, board pins, markers and projectors, meetings became a larger than life affair against splendid backdrops. It just did not jazz up my mood but also stimulated creativity in us.
3. Work and play, unlike Jack
It just took a two-hour DJ session and the infectious Street Shows, the Wild West Show and Spirit of Ramoji show to bridge the gap between us and the clients at Ramoji Film City.
Post the event at Ramoji Film City, my office became a better place, my colleagues became friends and targets seemed fun.
When’s my next corporate meet? I hope it is soon.
